| Horní Planá - The dominant feature of the town of Horní Planá is originally a Gothic church of St. Markéta, nowadays converted into Neo-Gothic style with preserved Renaissance wall paintings. Other landmarks include the birthplace of Adalbert Stifter (writer, poet and painter), Stifter Park, originally the Baroque parsonage and the Neo-Baroque Town Hall. | | Stifter’s Beech - Stifter was one of the strongest beech trees in the Český Krumlov district. Unfortunately, two windstorms have destroyed it - the first windfall was on December 8, 1979, in 1994 another storm finished the work and the beech fell. | | Stifter’s Spruce - Once Stifter's spruce was here. It was thwarted by strong winds in 1969. Today, the rest of the stump is visible. The age of the tree was estimated at 200 years. The circumference of the trunk measured 3.5 m. The wind also demolished a chapel under the spruce. |
