| Desná – Commemorating Rock – A picturesque mountain town established in the break of 16th and 17th century. There are some important cultural sights to be found in Desná such as the Riedel Villa (there is a cultural centre in the first floor as well as the town library with public internet connection, museum with a stable glassmaking history exposition). Another one of the sights is the family tomb of Riedels and the building of the town hall. | | Protržená přehrada (Busted dam) - The dam busted on 18th September 1916 only 10 months after its colaudation. There is a short educative trail which gives the information about the dam’s measurements. | | U Bunkru – Bunkers were built for protection of our borders in the 30s. | | Jizerka - Pyramida – Jizerka is a settlement with buildings spread amongst the peat-bog of Malá Jizerská louka (Small Jizera Meadow), which has been a natural reserve since 1987, and the basalt hill of Bukovec (1005 AMSL). Originally it was a mining place for precious stones later Jizerka is connected to the glassmaking activities of Riedl’s. From that time there are a few buildings left, for example the old grindery (today the Pyramida inn, mansion house and the old school building (1890) – today you can find an exhibition called the Old and New Face of the Jizera Mountains. |
